History

The name Bushmire is uncommon. That is not a myth; it is why a single house for it made sense.

Research into the name is mixed, and we will not pretend otherwise. Some sources treat it as English and toponymic — a place of bushes and water, bush and mire or mere. Others hear German in it: Busch and Meier, a steward of a wooded place. Until the family has documents in hand, those remain open questions, not a coat of arms.
